Police Rescue Abducted 8-Year-Old Boy, Arrest Four Suspects in Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has rescued an eight-year-old boy who was abducted in Akko Local Government Area of the state and arrested four suspects allegedly involved in the crime.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the victim’s father, Alhaji Muhammadu Nabadara, reported at the Akko Divisional Police Headquarters on June 28, 2026, that his son had left home the previous day at about 6:30 a.m. and failed to return.

The statement disclosed that detectives immediately launched an intensive investigation to trace the missing child. Although the family later received a telephone call claiming to reveal the boy’s whereabouts, police investigations established that the information was false and deliberately misleading.

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives on June 30 arrested the principal suspect, Abdullahi Mohammed, of Jauro Musa Quarters in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to conspiring with three other individuals—Mohammed Magaji, 35; Sale Sale, 23; and Walida Ya’u, 18—all residents of Kagarawal Quarters in Gombe.

The police said the remaining suspects were subsequently arrested, while the abducted child was found in their custody and rescued unharmed. The victim has since been reunited with his family.

The Command noted that investigations are ongoing and that all four suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

Commending the professionalism and swift response of the operatives involved, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support efforts in combating crime.
