Modibbo Adama University, Yola (MAU) has entered into a landmark partnership with the University of Ngaoundéré, Republic of Cameroon, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing academic exchange, collaborative research, and training initiatives.
The agreement was officially sealed during a recent visit by the Rector of the University of Ngaoundéré, Professor Mamoudou Abdoulmoumini, who was accompanied by key members of his management team. They were warmly welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor of MAU Yola, Professor Ibrahim Umar, alongside other university officials.
As part of the visit, both delegations paid a courtesy call to the Palace of the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha. The Lamido offered prayers for a successful and lasting partnership between the two institutions, highlighting the importance of educational cooperation in fostering regional development.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Umar, also led the Cameroonian delegation on a tour of the Fombina Palace Museum, offering them a glimpse into the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Adamawa Emirate. Following this, the delegation was taken around key facilities of the university, including the Academic Publishing Centre (APC), Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre, Centre for Equipment Maintenance and Industrial Training (CEMIT), University Central Laboratory, Solar Farm Project, Chevron Biotechnology Centre DNA Lab, IBB Library, and the Departments of Home Economics and Industrial Design.
The visiting team expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and academic resources at MAU, describing the facilities as “remarkable and well-suited for global-standard teaching and research.” They noted that the university’s commitment to excellence positions it well for impactful international collaborations.
The highlight of the visit was the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, symbolizing a shared commitment to advancing research, academic training, and institutional development. The event concluded with a group photograph to commemorate the historic partnership.
To further deepen the engagement, Professor Ibrahim Umar later took the delegation on a visit to the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH), where they observed the university’s ongoing efforts to strengthen medical and nursing education.
This strategic partnership is expected to open new frontiers in academic exchange, joint research, and capacity building between Modibbo Adama University and the University of Ngaoundéré. It represents a significant step toward reinforcing regional cooperation and promoting excellence in higher education across national borders.
