Kallamu Celebrates Graduates as MMK Programme Records Major Education Gains

The Member representing Mayo Belwa Consistency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu has reaffirmed his commitment to youth development through education as graduates of the MMK Training and Mentorship Programme were honoured at a send-off ceremony in Mayo Belwa.

Addressing members of the MMK Education Committee, resource persons, graduands and guests, the lawmaker described the occasion as more than a ceremony, noting that it represents “a celebration of commitment, resilience, and the power of opportunity.

He said the vision behind the programme was to equip young people with knowledge, skills, and guidance needed to face modern challenges, stressing that the initiative is already yielding results.

Kallamu congratulated the graduating students, describing them as symbols of hope for their families and communities and urged them to use the knowledge acquired for both personal growth and societal development.

He also commended members of the education committee and resource persons for their dedication, noting that they have not only taught lessons but have helped shape lives.

The lawmaker assured that more opportunities would be created to empower young people through education and mentorship.

Earlier, Chairman of the MMK Education Interventions Committee, Dr. Muhammad Bello of Modibbo Adama University, said the programme was highly challenging but successful due to the consistent support of the Member.

He explained that the initiative started about eight months ago with the induction of students and has since delivered measurable outcomes.

According to him, about 120 candidates were registered for examinations, with 80 percent securing admission opportunities into universities, colleges of education, aviation and other institutions.

Dr. Bello added that another set of students for the 2025–2026 session has been successfully registered and is awaiting examinations in the coming weeks, expressing confidence that they would achieve between 90 and 95 percent minimum cut-off points.

He further disclosed that all salaries and allowances of resource persons were paid promptly throughout the eight months of the programme.

Dr Bello said the committee also recorded other achievements including the provision of financial and teaching materials support to both public and private schools across the constituency during events such as Children’s Day, as well as financial assistance to no fewer than ten postgraduate students pursuing Master’s and PhD programmes.

Dr. Bello noted that support was also extended to secondary schools to enable them establish examination centres, citing Government Girls’ Secondary School, Mbilla among beneficiaries.

He emphasized that the MMK Training and Mentorship Programme is aimed at changing the narrative of education across the five wards in the constituency, adding that despite challenges, the committee continues to record progress.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the Committee, Mallam Lawan Muhammad, commended the lawmaker for consistent sponsorship and prompt payment of resource persons throughout the duration of the programme.

He also expressed the committee’s support for the continuation of such initiatives, including endorsing the lawmaker for further opportunities to consolidate on the achievements recorded.

A resource person, Mr. Solomon, appreciated Kallamu for giving them the opportunity to contribute their quota to the development of the students.

Also speaking, Alhaji Adamu Bitako of the Education Authority in Mayo Belwa said the initiative has significantly boosted learning among students in the area.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Special Assistant on Political Affairs to the lawmaker, Rabiu Ibrahim, and a retired educationist, Mallam Babayola Ahmad, all of whom commended the programme and its impact on education development.
