Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has state that he will hand over a more secure, stable, and economically prosperous Borno to the next administration.
Governor Zulum made the pledge on Monday while receiving a delegation of prominent sons and daughters of Gubio Local Government Area at the Government House in Maiduguri. The delegation was led by elder statesman Alhaji Gambo Gubio and included senior government officials, political leaders, and community stakeholders.
Speaking during the courtesy visit, Zulum acknowledged that insecurity remains the state’s most pressing challenge but expressed confidence that the situation would improve significantly before the end of his tenure.
“Security is the most difficult issue. Insha Allah, before I leave, the situation will be better than now. I will hand over a more stable, more prosperous, and more secure government to Engr. Mustapha Gubio, Insha Allah,” the governor stated.
He stressed the importance of sustaining achievements in governance, noting that maintaining success is often more difficult than attaining it. The governor called on residents to continue supporting and praying for the APC candidate as preparations for the 2027 governorship election gather momentum.
Zulum described Mustapha Gubio as a man of integrity, humility, and sound character, revealing that he has known him for over 26 years, dating back to his days as a student at the University of Maiduguri.
“His integrity is evident; he is humane, very gentle, and composed. Insha Allah, God will help him to steer the mantle of leadership of Borno State,” Zulum said.
Reflecting on the challenges that marked the beginning of his administration in 2019, the governor recalled the sacrifices required to tackle the state’s security and humanitarian crises.
“When I took over the leadership of the state, in the first 55 days of my administration, I saw my children only three times. The first four years were really challenging, but Almighty Allah has helped us to see light at the end of the tunnel,” he noted.
The governor also thanked the delegation for the visit and emphasized the importance of faith, prayer, and acceptance of divine guidance in leadership and governance.
Earlier, leader of the delegation, Alhaji Gambo Gubio, commended Governor Zulum for his role in the emergence of Mustapha Gubio as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
He expressed appreciation for the governor’s contributions to security, infrastructure development, and governance in Borno State, describing the APC candidate as a worthy son of Gubio capable of providing effective leadership.
The visit was attended by APC State Chairman Hon. Bello Ayuba, Secretary to the State Government Hon. Bukar Tijani, Acting Chief of Staff Dr. Babagana Mustapha Malumbe, commissioners, special advisers, and other top government officials.
