Suspected members of Boko Haram have killed 8 people and abducted four girls after they raided Gaya-Dlang near Fa’agaya in Hong local government area of Adamawa State around 5:00pm on Monday.
According to reports, the terrorists also burnt houses and carted away foodstuffs.
The raid came less than a month after a similar attack was carried out on Monday, 27 July, 2026, around 6:00 PM by the terrorists in the Zah community in the Yadul District of the Hong local government area, in which a middle-aged woman was abducted, and four persons, including a Forest Guard official, were killed.
The Council Chairman further said all the four ladies earlier abducted have escaped, “this morning all of them are back. The four ladies, all of them are back”
He said some inhabitants have sustained minor injuries while running for their lives, adding that the corpse of the Police officer has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Hong.
Dr. Hong said the situation in the area is now calm due to presence of the military personnel there.
He however said the continuous attacks on the communities in Gaya and Yadul districts have forced farmers who constitutes bulk of the population to abandoned their farms, noting that it will have adverse effect on food security.
“There is serious fear because 80% of our peasant farmers who are farming in that area have abandoned their farms. Even now, as I’m talking to you, I’m with the councilor representing the Garaha area. His farm is also there around that area, and as he said, they have abandoned his farm. So you can’t go to the farm now. You know, before, during the rainy season like this, you wouldn’t see them, but this time around, the thing is different. There are many in that area, in that area now.
You know, that area has vast land. People even from Mubi, Gombe, used to come and farm there, let alone us who are in Hong Local Government Area. Most of our farms are in that area, but now, no… no farming activities there. So it will seriously affect the food security of our people,” he said.
Dr.Hong said the local council will continue to assist military and other security agencies as well as hunters and vigilante members towards providing security in the area and across the entire local government area.The council chairman applauded the Fintiri-led administration for its efforts in tackling security in the state.
“The state government under the leadership of Ahmadu Fintiri is doing its best. So, we are on it. We are praying. By the grace of God, things will get better,” Dr. Hong said.
The council chairman called on communities across the local government to always be on alert and inform security agencies of the movement of suspected persons or those with questionable characters for prompt action.
