A peace agreement has been reached between the Bachama and Chobo communities in Lamurde Local Government Area after a dialogue convened at the instance of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The meeting, held on Thursday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Yola, came after a series of similar engagements initiated by the state government.

It brought together the Hama Bachama, Homun Daniel Ismaila, key community stakeholders, government officials, and security agencies.

Dr. Jamila Suleiman, Executive Vice Chairperson of the Adamawa State Peace Commission, said both communities used the forum to openly highlight the issues fueling their long-standing conflict.

She explained that the parties agreed to sustain dialogue and maintain communication channels, with a commitment to report progress back to the government.

She added that Governor Fintiri urged the leaders to embrace dialogue as the only viable solution to the recurrent clashes, stressing the need for both sides to act as brothers’ keepers in the interest of lasting peace.
