NUC Approves English, Mass Com, Other 14 New Undergraduate Programmes for MAU Yola

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of 16 new undergraduate programmes at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, Adamawa State, with effect from the 2025/2026 academic session.

The approval was conveyed in an official letter dated January 15, 2026, and signed by the Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.

According to the letter addressed to the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the university met all requirements stipulated by the NUC for the establishment of the programmes. The approved admission quota for the programmes is 800 students.

The newly approved programmes include B.A. Arabic, B.A. Islamic Studies, and B.A. English. Others are B.Sc. Cyber Security, B.Sc. Data Science, B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology, B.Sc. Information Systems, and B.Sc. Software Engineering.

Additional programmes approved are B.Sc. Environmental Management, B.Sc. Meteorology, B.Sc. Forensic Science, B.Sc. Applied Geophysics, and B.Sc. Petroleum Chemistry. The Commission also approved B.Sc. Mass Communication, B.Sc. Broadcasting, and B.Sc. Journalism and Media Studies.

The NUC requested JAMB to formally note the approval and accord Modibbo Adama University all necessary privileges, including admitting students into the approved programmes and any other requirements connected to the approval.
The development is expected to expand academic opportunities at the institution and strengthen manpower development in science, technology, humanities, and media-related disciplines in Adamawa State and the country at large.
