The Gombe State Police Command has firmly denied reports circulating on social media alleging an attack on the ECWA Church in Kashere, Akko Local Government Area of the state, describing the claims as false and misleading.
According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the Command immediately acted to verify the report upon becoming aware of it. The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Pindiga, alongside the Officer in Charge of the Kashere Police Outstation, contacted a senior elder of the church who was present during the second Hausa service. The church elder confirmed that no attack or disturbance took place and noted that police officers were stationed at the church premises throughout the day as part of routine security operations.
The Police Command condemned the spread of unverified information, warning that such reports are capable of causing fear and unnecessary tension among residents. It stressed that investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the false claim, with a view to taking appropriate legal action.
The Command reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security across Gombe State and urged citizens to remain calm, go about their lawful activities, and rely on verified sources for information.
