The First Lady of Adamawa State, Haj. Lami Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has officially flagged off the distribution of essential teaching and learning materials (TLMs) to public primary schools across the state for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB) headquarters in Yola on Friday, marks the commencement of Phase II of the state-funded education support initiative.
Welcoming dignitaries at the event, the Executive Chairman of ADSUBEB, Dr. Murtala Umar Babayi, emphasized the importance of the materials in improving learning outcomes and classroom experience.
He noted that the distribution includes 26,088 cartons of white chalk, 76,830 lesson plan notebooks, 73,079 teachers’ diaries, 85,480 class attendance registers, and 55,556 dusters—all provided free of charge to the beneficiaries.
“This is a crucial step towards empowering our teachers and learners with the tools they need to succeed,” Dr. Babayi said. “It demonstrates our unwavering commitment to quality education and sustainability.”
In her keynote address, Haj. Lami Fintiri lauded the state government’s efforts, led by her husband, His Excellency Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in prioritizing education.
She commended the leadership of ADSUBEB for their tireless work and reiterated the importance of transparency and accountability in ensuring the materials reach the intended schools and pupils.
“Education is the key to unlocking the potential of our children,” she said. “We must all work together to ensure these tools are used to build a better future for the next generation.”
The event follows a similar distribution exercise conducted on November 6, 2024, reinforcing the state’s resolve to provide consistent and adequate support for the basic education sector.
The First Lady concluded by officially flagging off the distribution and called on all stakeholders to remain committed to the noble goal of educational excellence in Adamawa State.
