Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Thursday presided over the State Executive Council meeting held at the new Council Chamber in Government House, Yola, where the council approved projects worth over N26 billion targeted at roads, agriculture, and infrastructure development.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the council approved N3.89 billion for the construction of the 11.2-kilometre Plum Road in Michika Local Government Area, and N6.59 billion for additional asphalt overlay on the Mubi–Garta–Kamale Road, extending it to 17.5 kilometres.
He further disclosed that N4.43 billion was approved for additional asphalt overlay on the 14-kilometre Sukur Road in Madagali, while N3.24 billion was allocated for asphalt surfacing of the 10.3-kilometre Kishinga Road. According to him, these projects will significantly improve road connectivity and promote socio-economic activities in the affected areas.
Other approvals include N1.5 billion for the procurement of NPK fertilizer for dry season farming and N1.73 billion for the purchase of 22 Massey Ferguson tractors and accessories to boost agriculture.
The council also approved N460 million for the accreditation of nine academic programmes at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye, N256 million as the 20 percent counterpart fund for the 2025 Basic Health Care Provision, and N235.6 million as compensation for land acquired for the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.
Additionally, N481 million was ratified for the upgrade of the Jada water supply scheme, while N328.5 million was approved for the purchase of a modern road sweeping truck to strengthen environmental sanitation in the state.
The Commissioner emphasized that these investments demonstrate the government’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure growth, improving agricultural productivity, and strengthening essential services for the people of Adamawa State.
