The Adamawa State Government has officially inaugurated a committee tasked with overseeing the recruitment of 5,000 teachers across the state.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development Conference Hall and was presided over by the Honourable Commissioner, Comrade Umar Garba Pella PhD.
The Executive Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB) was among the key officials in attendance at the event.
The committee comprises representatives from major government bodies, including the State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, the Post Primary Schools Management Board, the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), NUT, the Civil Service Commission, and the Office of the Head of Service, among others.
It will be chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Aisha Abubakar Umar, and co-chaired by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Management Board, Mr. Birsan Penuel.
According to Dr. Pella, the committee has a strict timeline of two weeks to screen and select the most qualified 5,000 candidates from a pool of 18,000 applicants.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to good governance, the Commissioner highlighted Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s passion for fairness, accountability, and transparency, which he said must guide the committee’s work.
“We were elected to serve the people, and we are determined to ensure that they are truly served. This government enjoys a high level of trust from the electorate, and we are committed to sustaining that trust,” he stated.
He also warned that no committee member should engage in any form of irregularity or personal interest throughout the process. He urged them to uphold integrity and professionalism and wished them success in their assignment.
