The College of Nursing Sciences at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital holds an awards presentation and walima for the outgoing members of the Muslim Student Society of Nigeria (MSSN).
The event took place in the Lecture Theatre of the College and was attended by notable figures, including Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, the Commander of Hisbah, the Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, and the Chief Imam of Zafar Mosque, among others.
In his address, guest speaker Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa encouraged the youth to make the most of their time, especially during their formative years. He stressed that this stage of life is crucial for preparing for the future.
Daurawa emphasized the significance of time in Islam, citing the Qur’an, Surah Al-Asr, which speaks to the importance of valuing time. He noted that every endeavor in life happens within a specific timeframe, and a true believer must regard time as vital. Those who neglect this principle often face regret. He encouraged attendees to recognize that each minute can bring both positive and negative outcomes, and failing to utilize time wisely can lead to wasted opportunities.
He outlined five essential pillars of Islam that individuals should adhere to in order to attain a better life both in this world and the hereafter. These include believing in the oneness of Allah, performing the five daily prayers, observing fasting during Ramadan, and paying zakat to those who are eligible.
Daurawa also highlighted the importance of having a schedule to provide clear direction for spending time judiciously, emphasizing that such opportunities may not present themselves again.
Aminu Yahaya, the Ameer of the Muslim Student Society of Nigeria, College of Nursing Sciences Branch, discussed some of the achievements during their tenure. These accomplishments include establishing a Quranic memorization class and a female prayer section at Zafar Juma’at Mosque, as well as visiting the Nasarawa Orphanage Home.
Yahaya commended fellow officials for their unwavering support and dedication throughout their academic journeys. He noted that despite the challenges of academic demands and busy schedules, the members remained focused on the common goal of promoting Islam in all their endeavors.
The Ameer also expressed gratitude for the support from the officials of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, particularly the provost, which contributed to smooth academic programs at the college.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer session and the presentation of awards. Honorees included the Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Professor Abdullahi Sheshe, the Provost, Dr Saminu Baba, Mallam Mustafa Adamu, as well as certificates presented to the Ameer and the Ameera.
