The university of Maiduguri has announced the historic promotion of Dr. Halima Idrisa Gambo to the rank of professor, following approval by the university’s Governing council which earned her the first female professor of veterinary pathology in Nigeria
Professor Gambo hails from potiskum town of Yobe state began her academic carrer in 2004 as an assistant lecturer at the university of Maiduguri, where she dedicated herself to over 20 years of teaching, research, mentorship and community service
“When it is time, it is time. I know i have waited to do this for some years now” – prof Halima Idrisa Gambo.
Beyond academics, she holds several key leadership positions to include; National Vice President veterinary council of Nigeria (VCN), Chairperson, Nigerian veterinary Medical Association ( NVMA), Borno state chapter, Deputy Director, University of Maiduguri Business School (UMBS).
