Muslim faithful have been urged to intensify their prayers for Allah’s guidance and abundant rewards during Ramadan, in order to benefit from His blessings.
Sheik Modibbo Sufyanu Modibbo Iya Rumde, the Wakili Malamai of Adamawa, shared this message in an exclusive interview with Daily Chronicles reporter Abubakar Ibrahim, shortly after the daily Qur’an Tafsir at his mosque in Jimeta Yola, the capital of Adamawa state.
Modibbo Sufyanu, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the National Council for Nigerian Imams, emphasized the importance of abstaining from sins, including sexual intercourse during the day, alcohol consumption, lewd comments, and hypocrisy during the Holy Month. He urged Muslims to avoid such actions.
The Imam pointed out that Ramadan is an annual period of worship that fulfills Allah’s commandments and instills His fear among believers. He highlighted it as an opportunity to strengthen the spiritual bond between Allah and His servants.
While advising other Islamic scholars who preach during Ramadan, Sheikh Modibbo Sufyanu encouraged them to be cautious and selective in their words. He urged them to adopt a teaching style that promotes peace and unity, devoid of provocative speeches that could undermine standard Islamic preaching methods.
He also called upon fasting Muslims to use this period to increase their prayers, provide for those in need, engage in night supererogatory prayers, and recite the Holy Qur’an to receive multiple rewards from Allah.
