The Police Health Maintenance Limited (PHML) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) to provide specialized trauma, accident and bullet wound healthcare services for officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.
The agreement was signed during a visit by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PHML, Dr. Yusuf K. Gazali, to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital in Port Harcourt as part of efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships and improve access to quality healthcare for police personnel.
According to PHML, the partnership is designed to ensure timely, seamless and high-quality emergency medical care for officers injured in the line of duty, while reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to delivering comprehensive healthcare services to serving officers, personnel and their direct dependants.
Dr. Gazali was accompanied by Dr. (Mrs.) Adenike Abuwa (AIG Rtd.), a member of the PHML Board; Company Secretary, Barrister Suleiman Idris; Officer Commanding Medical, Rivers State, ACP (Dr.) Chuks Ahunaya; and PHML South-South Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Edith Peters.
As part of the visit to Rivers State, the PHML delegation also inspected the organisation’s South-South Zonal Office, where they were received by Mrs. Peters and members of staff.
The team further paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, who was briefed on the newly signed agreement and its expected benefits for officers serving in the state.
The Commissioner commended PHML for its sustained commitment to improving the welfare and healthcare of police personnel through strategic partnerships and enhanced medical service delivery.
PHML said the agreement represents another milestone in its drive to expand access to specialized healthcare services for members of the Nigeria Police Force across the country.
