Amidst widespread jubilation, the newly elected Chairman of Shelleng Local Government Area, Hon. Abubakar Isa (the Marafa of Shelleng), arrived to take the mantle of leadership, placing his commitment to the people at the very forefront of his administration.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowds, Hon. Isa expressed his profound gratitude to the Almighty and to the good people of Shelleng for entrusting him with this vital responsibility.
He firmly pledged his dedication to providing much-needed basic amenities to the communities that gave him their mandate, ensuring that his administration delivers first-hand development directly to the grassroots.
Furthermore, the new Chairman extended his heartfelt appreciation to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and other key political stakeholders for their unwavering support.
Hon. Isa emphasized that his eleven-point agenda is strategically aligned with the Governor’s “Fresh Air Government,” expressing confidence that the state government remains ever ready to support development-oriented projects in Shelleng.
Outgoing Chairman Hands Over the Baton
During a customary homage visit to the palace of His Royal Highness, the Amna of Shelleng, Alhaji Dr. Abdullahi Isa Dasong the II, the outgoing Chairman, Abubakar Isa Abba (Dan Maje Shelleng), took the floor to officially present his successor.
In his address to the traditional council, the outgoing Chairman thanked the Amna for his relentless support and cooperation, which contributed immensely to the achievements of his tenure and formally introduced the Marafa of Shelleng to the Emir and the palace council members.
He urged the royal father and the community to extend the exact same level of support and fatherly advice to the incoming Chairman so he can seamlessly build upon the strong foundation already laid and commended him for his fatherly guidance during his pursuit of the chairmanship and praising his predecessor for doing an excellent job.
Responding with a fatherly address, His Royal Highness the Amna of Shelleng, Dr. Alhaji Abdullahi Isa Dasong, welcomed the entourage and thanked them for the homage.
The royal father commended the outgoing Chairman for a job well done and set a high bar for the new administration, noting his sincere hope that the incoming Chairman will achieve even greater milestones. Stressing that “there is no other place like Shelleng,”
He urged Marafan Shelleng to prove his worth through dedicated service and tangible results, emphasizi that the new Chairman’s success is only possible with maximum cooperation and support from the citizens of Shelleng.
He made a strong call for unity across all political divides, stating that collective harmony is the only path forward toward a more prosperous future for the local government.
The historic visit culminated in a formal handing-over session between the outgoing and incoming Chairmen at the Local Government Secretariat. The day’s events were then capped off with a lively congratulatory reception at the residence of the newly elected Chairman, as the people of Shelleng celebrated the dawn of a promising new administration.
