The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as its vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 presidential election, pairing him with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
ADC National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi announced the decision on Monday, saying it followed extensive consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, and stakeholders across all geopolitical zones.
Amaechi’s selection was informed partly by his performance at the party’s presidential primaries, where he finished as runner-up.
The ADC cited his experience as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term Governor of Rivers State, and former Minister of Transportation under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari as qualifications that make him well-suited to complement Atiku’s candidacy. The party described the pairing as a “unity and rescue ticket,” saying the two men bring together the experience, national reach, and leadership capacity needed to provide Nigerians with a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 polls.
The ADC called on members, coalition partners, and Nigerians of goodwill to support the ticket.
