UCF Inaugurates Executives in Shelleng, Extends Educational Support

The Unity Consultative Forum (UCF) of the Numan Federation has embarked on a tour of Shelleng, Guyuk, and Lamurde Local Government Areas in Adamawa State, inaugurating its five local government executives at the palace of the Amna Shelleng. 

Speaking at the occasion, UCF Chairman Alhaji Muhammad Iliyasu Danburam Jen charged the newly inaugurated executives to uphold the ideals of community development and unity.

He explained that the union was created to give members a platform to report issues particularly those relating to injustice so they can be addressed through appropriate channels.

He cited rising criminal activities such as phone snatching and stressed that the Forum would use its influence to push for solutions, including advocating for solar lighting in dark streets to improve security. 

As part of the event, UCF rolled out an education support program. School fees were paid for more than four hundred pupils and students, while teachers received lesson notebooks to aid their work.

Chairman of the Education Committee, Alhaji Adamu Nabagara, noted that the Forum had visited five local governments, supporting students in selected schools. In GDSS Guyuk, 25 students benefited; GSS Banjiram received support for another 25; and GSS Shelleng had its students’ fees paid alongside provision of reading and writing materials. Altogether, more than 140 students across the Numan Federation have benefitted from UCF’s education initiative. 

Representing the District Head of Shelleng, Alhaji Abdulrahman Isa Dasong, his Wakili expressed gratitude to UCF for its community‑based projects and efforts to promote unity in the region. 

UCF Secretary General, Hamza Muhammad (Rtd), explained that the Forum was formed to address challenges faced by Muslims, who are considered a minority in the Numan Federation.

He noted that this minority status often limits access to government appointments and other benefits. While the Muslim Council focuses on religious matters, he said, UCF is dedicated to addressing political and economic issues affecting the community. 

The Education Secretary of the Local Education Authority (LEA) Shelleng commended the gesture, noting that education remains the backbone of every responsible society.

He assured that the LEA would continue to welcome and support such interventions.
