Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai Defects to ADC, Announces Primary Health Care Initiative

The Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas GCON, has formally announced the resignation of Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

El-Rufai, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency and chairs the House Committee on Banking Regulations, declared his intention to seek re-election under the ADC platform. He emphasized that the move was driven by a commitment to “progressive, people-focused service” and the need to deliver quality representation.

He is joined in the defection by Hon. Engr. Suleiman Richifa of Soba and Hon. Umar Ajilo of Makarfi/Kudan, both of whom also crossed over to the ADC. Together, the trio pledged to strengthen the party’s presence in Kaduna State and beyond.

“As a proud son of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, I am guided by courage, conviction, and the unshakable belief that our people deserve the very best,” El-Rufai said in his statement. “Our work continues, and it will not stop.”

In addition to his political realignment, El-Rufai announced plans to inaugurate an ad hoc committee for a Primary Health Care initiative unveiled last week. The program will equip Primary Health Care Centres with essential medical supplies, beginning with 1,000 syringes per centre and other critical items. Phase I will cover two centres: Unguwar Sarki Ward and Badarawa/Malali Ward.

He concluded his statement with prayers for divine guidance and blessings for Nigeria, reaffirming his dedication to serving the people of Kaduna North.
