International Delegation Praises Borno’s Recovery Progress

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, hosted a major delegation in Maiduguri on Tuesday for a first-hand look at the state’s development projects amid ongoing humanitarian efforts.

The group included ambassadors from India, Egypt, Indonesia, the Philippines, Turkey, Malaysia, and Qatar, alongside the UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohamed Malick Fall, and Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Bernard Doro.

The visit focused on assessing infrastructure and humanitarian programs, with tours of schools, vocational training centers, and health facilities implemented under Zulum’s administration.

UN and Federal Government Applaud Efforts

Both UN and federal officials expressed strong approval of the progress observed.

UN Coordinator Fall highlighted the transformative work beyond the security challenges:
“There are things that are taking place which are transformative in Borno State… The investment in education clearly shows the vision to touch the root cause of the crises.”

Minister Doro also commended the state’s advances:
“I am very happy with what I have seen… The Governor has shown leadership. Excellent facilities are ready to graduate people out of poverty.”

The visit underscores growing recognition of Borno’s push to combine immediate humanitarian aid with long-term development to address the roots of poverty and conflict.
