Dr. Hassan Gimba: A Man Worthy of Emulation

By Kasim Isa Muhammad

In mere words, I can’t possibly capture who Dr. Hassan Gimba is. I don’t even know where to start. Or what should I say and what should I leave out. For almost three decades of my life, I have met different kinds of people, friends, colleagues, mentors, but never someone like Dr. Hassan. It is simply impossible. He is, in fact, a rare gem who embodies humbleness, kindness, empathy, and compassion.

He extends his helping hand so well and so precociously, with unbelievably contagious kindness and substantiality, that anyone who ever met him feels its impact.

What impresses me most is that everything he does is for the sake of Allah. I know many people whose school fees, feeding, and general welfare he supports. I know orphans who live under his care and guidance. He carries a never-ending river of responsibilities, and I frankly don’t know how he manages to take all of it without breaking down, without slowing, without ever appearing tired. Despite his age, he handles everything with so much ease. Energetic always he appears!

Alas, here is a man who has a very modest self-construal of his own impact and strengths, someone who does so much but prefers to remain unseen, too far away from media domain. What truly triggered me to write this was his sponsorship of scores of people with disabilities in Potiskum to learn a skill. Is this not commendable?

Dr. Hassan dislikes publicity. But this act deserves our collective appreciation so as to motivate others to emulate such kindness and development.

Without an iota of doubt, he is the most kind-hearted person I have ever known. One of his greatest passions is always to help people who are less well-off than he is. And mentorship in any regards is to support people to achieve their objectives.

Please emulate Dr. Hassan, be kind, be compassionate, and be good to people regardless of all sorts of social stratifications.

  1. Interesting read! Seeing platforms like PHSpin prioritize security & transparency with things like KYC is reassuring. It’s good to see local payment options too – makes access easier. Is phspin legit for Filipino players, generally? Curious to explore!
